Save Energy Now
This fact sheet describes the DOE Save Energy Now initiative. Save Energy Now helps American businesses, factories, and manufacturing facilities save energy, reduce operating costs and lower utility bills in this time of variable energy prices and supplies.

DOE and EPA National Data Center Energy Efficiency Information Program
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have initiated a joint national data center energy efficiency information program. The program coordinates a wide variety of activities from the DOE Save Energy Now initiative, the DOE Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), and the EPA ENERGY STAR program.

EPA Enterprise Server and Data Center Energy Efficiency Initiatives
EPA is working with all interested parties to identify ways in which energy efficiency can be measured, documented, and implemented in data centers and the equipment they house, especially servers.

DC Pro Software Tool
The DOE has developed an online software tool called Data Center Energy Profiler, or DC Pro, which is designed to help owners quickly "diagnose" how energy is being used by their data centers and how they might save energy and money. The Profiler is a first step to identifying potential savings and reducing environmental emissions associated with energy production and use. DC Pro output includes a customized printable report showing the details of energy purchases for their data center(s), how energy is consumed by their data center(s), potential energy cost savings, comparison of their data center energy utilization versus other data centers using the DCiE metric, and a list of next steps that they can follow to start saving energy.

New! The Green Grid Energy Policy Research for Data Centres: France, Germany, The Netherlands, and The United Kingdom
Climate change and fuel security have dramatically risen up the policy agenda, resulting in a comprehensive policy framework at both the European Union (EU) and national levels. The growth of data centres, and their energy intensity, means the industry will be particularly affected by the drive for energy effciency of product design and building services.

New! Productivity Proxy Proposals Feedback - Interim Results
In January 2009 The Green Grid (TGG) published a paper entitled, “Proxy Proposals for Measuring Data Center Productivity,” which proposed eight candidates for a simple proxy that would be useful for estimating DCeP, but significantly easier to calculate than the DCeP metric is. This paper reviews the results of the feedback from users that was gathered as to which of the proposed proxies they felt would be the most useful and worthy of further investigation.

The 3rd Annual Green Grid Technical Forum and Members Meeting, Feb. 3-4, 2010

The 3rd Annual Green Grid Technical Forum and General Members Meeting will be held on February 3-4, 2010 in San Jose, CA at the San Jose Marriott. This unique industry event is designed to bring members and other industry stakeholders together to further The Green Grid's mission of advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystem. Attendees will learn about The Green Grid's data center metrics, current and emerging techniques for managing data centers for efficiency and future technical deliverables from the organization. The Green Grid will also host discussions with leading industry policy-makers from around the world.
